Helambu Circuit Trek also well known as the Helambu Climate Smart Trek has been established as a tourism project to showcase and encourage climate friendly activities by the locals as well as the travelers. This route is the closest and most accessible trek from Kathmandu. The trek is said to be a straight forward, low altitude and suitable for mixed ability hikers. The area is inhabitant to the Hyolmo people, an ethnicity who exhibit similarities to both the Tibetan and Nepali culture and yet is unique in its own way. Buddhism values are very prominent on this trek, killing of any living animal is strictly prohibited and if one is caught in such an act it is punishable by local authorities. One can except to find ancient Buddhist monasteries and see that there is a large prominence of Guru Rinpoche (an 8th century Buddhist master) near Sermathang.
The trail meanders through rice terraces carefully carved into the contours of the mid-hills leading you on to parts of the Langtang National Park making it a possibility for you to encounter wildlife the most popular being the Red Panda. Tharepati is the best location for you to experience a night under the stars with the Langtang Himal range as the backdrop. The Helambu Climate Smart trek is a self-sufficient tea house trek where one can find basic facilities like a warm bed, a good meal and hot showers. The area is still recovering from the earthquake in 2015.

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Patibhanjyang Drive 2 hours, Trek Patibhanjyang – Chipling (2166m) 3 hours overnight.
Day 2: Chipling – Kutumbsang (2470m), 5 hours.
Day 3: Kutumsang – Mangengoth (3200m), 4.30 hours.
Day 4: Mangengoth - Thare Pati (3600m), 3 hours.
Day 5: Thare Pati – Melamchighyang (2550m), 3 hours.
Day 6: Melamchighyang - Tarke Ghyang (2550m), 4.30 hours
Day 7: Tarke Ghyang – Sermanthang (2693m), 3.30 hours
Day 8: End trek, Drive Sermanthang – Kathmandu (1325m), 8 hours.
